I used a 24” piece of 8” steel pipe and I slide a piece of 8” stove pipe with damper inside the steel pipe.
I'm gonna get some 8" stove pipe for this build. Debating if I want to put stack on top vs on the side with the plenum.

To make your RF plate wider you could cut the plate in 1/2 length wise and weld a piece of angle iron on a V down the middle of your smoker then weld the plates in from the sides to the V. The V could be connected to a pipe and serve as your grease drain.
