A couple of people asked me to post how I did the weave on my fatties. Sorry I didn't get to it sooner.

A simple bacon cheeseburger fattie - all beef. butchered a steer, got tons o hamburg.

    Rolled and waitin da bacon

    1 Piece lenghtwise - 1 across

I think this is pretty easy to see, so I won't ramble on.

Just try to keep slices close together. When the bacon shrinks during the smoke it will actually tighten up on the roll & keep it from falling apart.

Lift up the strips under the strip going lengthwise

    Lay another going lengthwise

    now the other side

Kinda roll the whole thing over so ya can get further down w/out it all fallin off

10 pix max - next post

Just keep addin and rollin along til it's covered

Should look like this when finished - all the ends of bacon should be on the bottom

    Off to da smoke!!!

Post a pic when it's done.

This weave is genius. I would have never thought to do it like you do an apple pie lattice. Regardless the Fatty I have in the smoker right this minute is weaved up just like this.

Great instruction!! I'm going to give it a try this weekend with my fattie.

Would it be easier to weave the bacon on a flat surface, like a cookie sheet, and just roll the fattie into it?

Never tried that. Give it a shot and let us know how it works out.

Gene, I've been practicing with strips of paper to get this weave right. I think I've got it down, and will be wrapping my 2 fatties Sunday.

Like I mentioned before, I'm going to lay the bacon weave flat out on wax paper and roll my fattie into it. I'll show some Qview of my results. [IMG]
