This question may have been asked before, but I wanted some advice. Just got a WSM for Christmas and ready to smoke my first butt. My Father has been saving me some wood for several years in anticipation of me getting a smoker. He has been saving some pecan wood as his trees have suffered some damage from ice and wind. He had to cut down a peach tree and saved me the trunk. He heats with firewood and always has plenty of hickory. My question is that all the wood is dry from being stored in the barn. Do I need to soak any of the wood in water or use it as is? Thanks for the advice.
