Tried the Solo cup on my Pit Boss and the exhaust coming out of the grill into the grease pail was hot enough that the cup got soft and started to melt.

Yep. Those kegger cups do be fragile. :(
But a pint wide-mouth Mason jar is pretty tough.I use one under my Char-Broil gas burner.
My secret seasoning done ate holes in the OEM aluminum cup.:eek:
But with his dual pails, he's got it covered.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I can't help but notice that nobody suggested just cleaning out the accumulated grease after each use and tossing the pail in the dishwasher with the rest of supper's dirty dishes??? No extra expense, no grease sitting around to temp the hound, no extra pail to store. Seems like a pretty simple solution to a small problem.

Gary, That's actually a good suggestion. It's usually what I do. But:

Please ladies and gentlemen, this is by no means a reflection upon any of our members, but we as a society have evolved into a "throwaway" society. Much easier with all the recycling programs around our country to just pitch it.

I use empty pickle jars. When finished cooking I just screw the lid on. When jar gets full put the lid on and toss.

Party Pooper!
Besides, our dishwasher is dead. So I washed the whole load by hand yesterday after giving up on it's resurrection.
It's not wore out, just too many electronics and planned obsolescence.
But the racks work as dish drying racks still.

Or a soup or other similar can with the top cut off.... same idea. Use something you are going to be throwing away anyway and let it do double duty.
