OK this comes about every year.
I am so irritated of the time change. I wish our representatives would finish the bill the senate passed years ago to repeal the Federal regulation. Many states have trigger laws to adopt a single time once the Feds get off their ass.
I migrate south from central to eastern time zones. It messes my timing in the opposite. I get up earlier in eastern time. With standard time I will be up mesed up for another hour.

There is multiple studies that point out the time change causes harm to people

Could not agree more! Not that hard to change it… it just needs to be an inconvenience to a select few “uppers” and it’d have been done long ago!

I have sent many emails to my reps to do just what you suggested……Arizona has it right cause they just said pound sand and we aren't going to play along!

Agree! Like I said above… if it was an inconvenience to a few “uppers” it would have been done long ago!

Honestly, I could take it or leave it. I assume that someone is being enriched by keeping it this way. Anytime something is this contentious I always wonder what one would find looking at the money trail.
I always thought it began for farmers, but apparently they hate it. It doesn't affect their farm except the schedules of the rest of the country changes...and somehow that is an annoyance to them? Their day is based on daylight regardless of what "time" you call that daylight.

More daylight hours do apparently benefit business, especially retail, and also reduces traffic accidents simply because its easier to drive when its not dark.

People are supposedly more active with more daylight after work to do things.

But to me, everyone can just get up and go to bed at times that maximize the daylight regardless of the clock if they wanted to. Companies I have worked for for years (thankfully I dont work in the shops anymore) have started their day at 6AM, but thats to beat the DC area traffic. Even though its miserable to me to have to get up at 4AM for a long commute, it can make an our or more difference in the time spent in traffic. Most of the shop guys like the early starting time. Problem is the shops have been so notoriously busy everyone is working overtime so they dont get to leave at 2:30 like they should. It would tick me off when the company would ask me for overtime, then shut the day down at 4:30. If you want me to stay late, work me till after rush hour. I would rather give you 12 hours every other day than 10 everyday sitting in that traffic on the way home!

Here's an article on DST

There will always be some on both sides of this issue, each of which have some legitimate reasoning. There use to be 3 states that didn't change their clocks: Hawaii, Arizona and Indiana. A number of years ago our state government changed it and Indiana now follows the east coast DST schedule. It was nice not having to mess with the clocks but after all these years of dealing with DST, I can say it's only an inconvenience that I have to deal with twice a year.

It shouldn't be dark at 5:00 pm. I wish we'd stay on DST year round as well.

I lived in South Africa back in the late 80's/early 90's and they didn't have DST so they stayed on normal time year round. The sun would rise at 4:30 during their peak Summer Solstice :emoji_laughing:

I absolutely despise DST!!! Why, should you ask? I collect watches. And after resetting 37 of them. I'm a bit testy! :emoji_laughing:
lol, I set my Mido yesterday and forgot to wear it both yesterday and today. If I'm VERY lucky it will still be running tonight when I get off work. It's a caliber 80 that has nowhere near 80 hours of reserve from just daily wear.

I like it... It makes the outdoors Huney-Do list shorter...

We (wife and I) never use (d) an alarm clock ethier ... And being in the Maritime Industry the starting hours are crazy...
