Costco Executive Membership

So the other day the wife and I were in Costco doing some shopping, and when we were checking out the cashier hit us up for the "executive" membership. It's like $50 extra per year, but they prorate based on how much time you have left in your current membership, I guess. Anyways, it cost us $20 until the end of our membership, and I guess we get 2% back on purchases.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here uses this, and their thoughts on it. The guy told me that if we didn't save the $20, then they would refund the upgrade price to us, which is why I went ahead and did it, but what are everyone else's experience with this?

At least I got a snazzy new black membership card!

Ive been an executive member for 6 or 7 years. We usually get a check at the end of the year for between $120 and $280. That basically pays for the membership plus a few goodies. It all depends on what you spend really. If you spend at least $2500 a year there, you will get a check for $50 which basically makes up the difference in being a regular member vs. an executive member. Anything above $2500 a year is icing on the cake.

We have one. We get a check every so often but do it mostly because we get our dental insurace though them. I think we do a little better than break even on it so I suppose it's worthwhile.

Had it for about 4-5 years after they showed me that i could have received $100.00+ ever year. we bought everything there, every week LOL never got out under $100.00.
Also went for the AX credit card because we could get 3% on gas and they had the lowest price in the area.
Now i am stuck with SAM's meat poor and the other good OK. Costco about 200 mi away.

I have had it for 3 years now, and it is a no lose thing as if you dont spend enough to make the extra back fo the upgraded membership cost they make it up so realy you are not spending anymore for your membership except for the first time as the rest of the years you use your refund to buy the whole membership.

if you spend 2500/year as mention it covers the extra, if you spend 5000/ year your whole membership is now free, and anything over the 5000 pays your whole membership and gives you money back. I am waiting for this year as we moved and have probably spend 20-30K this year

We're on our 6th year and each year in addition to the rebate covering the cost of the Executive membership, we also get another $75 to $100 back.

IMHO, No Brainer.

What was the question? Oh yeah, membership fee. Worth it, worth it, worth it. We spend so much there, it's like having a free membership.
