Defiance oh.
I recently purchased a Cold Smoker hoping it would be better than the chip feeder on the MES. And it is for the first 20 minutes or so. Then the smoke dies down and I have to open the unit up and knock the chips down as the chips seem to get wedged in to chamber and will not fall to the burner. Now my question is, has anyone have one of these units? If so do you have the same problems and how did you rectify the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What is the purpose of the mail box?

When cold smoking, the AMNPS generates a small amount of heat that can raise the temp of the smoker to temps that are too high for cheese etc... The flex pipe cools the smoke/heat to ambient temps.... ALSO, when smoking, the raised temp in the smoker, from the heating element, can cause the pellets to burn faster than ambient temps... Sooooo, the MB mod. makes for a uniform smoke regardless of smoker temp...

Try Pellets instead of chips. The small size should not hang up as they burn at the bottom...JJ

YEP!

A good friend of mine uses pellets and doesn't have any issues with bridging.  He also uses it as his sole source of smoke on some runs.

Todd's dust works great for cold smoking as well.  Put's out the smallest amount of heat.
