I've recently purchased an Oklahoma Joe's Canyon Combo smoker and and still learning (a LOT!).
My smoker firebox is very leaky, especially around edges of the ash tray making fire control difficult. The 'vents' are practically useless because most air is entering through the gaps in the edges.
I'm curious if others are having a similar experience and what creative ways you've developed to help improve this.

...still learning!

How low can you get the temperature?
How low do you want to go?

EDIT: Welcome!

Thank you for the reply! As I mentioned I'm still learning and only have a two smokes under my belt. I did learn that I started with a fire that was much too big so it took along time to blead off the heat. Then shutting down the door vent (which almost seem cosmetic) I had a lot of trouble maintaining 200. Kept chasing it...
There is a LOT of 'daylight' around the edges of my Ash-tray giving me a lot of leakage. From what I've read so far this is a common problem with the Oklahoma Joes Combos. If this is true I'm guessing folks have come up with creative ways to improve it.

Yeah, too much fuel at the start makes things difficult to control. Been there, done that. :)

Go to the website in the below link.
They sell exactly what you need to seal up your firebox door, as well as the 2 cook chambers.
They are a reputable company based in Long Island, and they sell quality product.

I used their 1/2" wide LavaLock to seal up my Traeger pellet grill, my Weber kettle and also my Weber Smokey Mountain. The stuff work fantastic.

Warning:

One you see this website, you will become hooked.
Which means you will see lots and lots of stuff you want (and need). :)

Best of luck and let us know how things go.
