Excellent.... Very nice build... I really like the lean-to on the side for the wood rack.... now the next question is.... How's the temps in the smokehouse ? getting hot enough ? I was trying to eyeball the intake vent for the firebox... are they in the door ?

Gorgeous build!  You did an excellent job on your first masonry project.  Also love the choice in wood.  Are you going to seal the wood or let it grey?  I think I'd vote to preserve the natural color of the cedar.  Either with a sealer or an oil stain that is close to the natural color.

  I plan on putting some type of protection on the wood this spring.  Not sure what yet.

What temps did you get? Was you able to cold smoke?

I try to keep it at 180° or less but it's gotten away from me a couple times to 250°+. I can cold smoke in it but it has to be babied. I need to add a deflector over the pipe at the bottom of the smokehouse.

Just an observation. Treated lumber contains arsenic. I'm not sure that the combination of heat, humidity, arsenic and food is the best answer. Cedar is naturally rot/bug resistant, on its own. However, better decay/pest protection could be attained using Cyprus. in general it can hold its own against water.

Being an avid smoker i love your design and would love a set of plans .... I didnt see any treated material as mentioned before , dont think you are a beginner so pretty sure you avoided treated wood ...lol Keep us posted on your cooks and log temps so we can help with any improvements you may need ..... Oh and where do you live so I can start on the wife about relocation

Personally, I would NOT use "teated" lumber any where near my smoke house because tthe "treatment" is POISONOUS! Think about that. If you take time to read the tiny little tags on the lumber they say to wear gloves and goggles when handling because of the chemicals.

Your second YouTube video is listed as private.  I'm wondering, are you in a warm weather state?  I noticed you have the roof supports over the wood rack resting on pads.  In areas where a person gets frost they would be better sunk into the ground past the frost line, still resting on pads.  In my part of the country that would be four feet deep.  This is great, I think you should build a sauna next!
