I wasn't even a member of this forum but I just couldn't pass this one up! Someone posted a photo of this on Facebook and I followed the trail to here and I am so glad I did.

What an absolutely beautiful thing! Your planning and craftsmanship is impeccable and that would make a great addition to anyone's yard! When are you going to come over and start mine, LOL! Nice job man, really nice

And for all you Brain trusts that just kept going on and on about not using treated lumber, Get with the programs guys!!

Not only does the title Read "CEDAR SMOKEHOUSE CONSTRUCTION" on top of that Lumber treated with chromated copper arsenate (CCA) has not been used since 2004! First the wooden play structure industry agreed to stop using it in 2002. Then the EPA ruled it must be "eliminated in all wood products by January 1, 2004" so Arsenic wood has not been used for almost 10 years now.

And for the guy with the Cypress wood suggestion, sure it is great in water, about that you are right. Unfortunately it should not be used in locations where it gets hot because it can be an irritant. The oils that protect it so well in water are released when heated can adversely affect people with asthma, cause swelling of eyelids, boils, rashes and headaches.

You could use a small steel plate of some sort to put under the cinder blocks on the left and have it extend out so the other cinder block rests on it.  Kind of forming a small ledge.
  3. I have been wanting to make a smoke house of my own, unlike yours I want to use a nature rock base.

My question is, I had an idea to put a damper in the tube between the fire and smoke house.

That smokehouse build is great! Can you give a ballpark estimate on the total construction costs?

  12. Time for me to make a fool of myself.....AGAIN. How do you control the temperature in your smokehouse? It looks AMAZING, by the way. Great craftsmanship.

if you bother to read the thread you will clearly read that it was not built from plans. But built from images of other smoke houses on the net. And the link is EVEN provided where the inspiration came from. I sincerely wish people would read before posting [IMG]

As far as the masonry, you could probably just put the blocks on top of one another and fill with concrete. That would avoid having to do any masonry work.

Been a lurker here for a long time, stealing recipes and looking at photos.

This thread has finally pushed me over the edge to join. Excellent job, looks fantastic! You deserve an award!

Being a member of many other forums, I know people are hungry for their brand of p0rn... Be it fishing p0rn, hunting p0rn, gun p0rn, land rover p0rn or smoker p0rn pics! And you did a wonderful build and supplied all with enough smoker p0rn pictures for a long time. I love it!

    Congrats on a gorgeous build.

It's funny you say that...  My mom is from Gorzow, my dad from Wroclaw.

You could use solid brick and mortar around the pipe building it up level or use a steel plate to go across bottom of cinder block to support the next layer.
