My wife was at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore the other day and they had just put this beauty out on the floor. $125 out the door. I've been looking for one for a while, not so much for doing pork butt, but to increase sausage smoking space and at some point snack sticks, cheese and bacon. Weber kettles are great for a lot of things, but they make smoking a lot of sausage difficult.

Got it home and cleaned up and took a pork butt out of the freezer. Test run yesterday went well. So this morning I got the butt rubbed down with some Jeff's Rub and into the smoker at 225. Smoke is from some hickory chips.

Has anyone else gotten the Masterbuilt Classic app to work?

Isn't that the one with dual elements ?
My MES 30 does a great pork butt .
No experience with an app for these , but most apps for this stuff likes the 2.4 connection over the 5 .
So maybe check that if it's a connection issue .

Yes, one at the bottom for smoke and another at the top.

I don't doubt it will do a good butt, but I love running the weber.

This one is bluetooth, but the app won't even let me sign in

Right me too . I have several options , but a pork butt is probably the only whole muscle meat I do in the MES .

Did you pair them ?
I just went and looked it up , should be a button on the control panel you need to push and hold , says pair , then add device . Maybe you did that ?
If not look into it , or google it . Good video on how to add a device .

I have a bluetooth model and it was never very reliable it was just easier to use a separate dual probe therm. But now that I have the Auber and wireless probes all that is in the past.

After 8hrs, the temp alarm was going off at 204 and it was probing like butter. Out of the smoker and into a warm oven for a couple hours.

After the rest, the bone pulled right out. This was a small but I bought a couple years ago, cut some csr's off of and stuck in the freezer.

Pulled and ready to eat. Added a bit of Jeff's rub to it. Only note is that it's a little light on smoke flavor. Probably didn't keep up on the chips enough, and I'm looking to buy a amnps tray or tube. Bone apple tea!

Wow bud . that looks fantastic .

Yeah , but that thing is clean . Get it seasoned up from use , and add a tube or tray and you'll be right there .
Nice cook on that .

Yeah, I think it was only used once or twice before. The inside was spotless. Need to replace the drip tray on the back as it's rusted out.

Thanks for the input on the app. I wasn't super hopeful, but wanted to try as the screen is very dark. I'm sure an Auber is on the horizon. Unless I dig out a microcontroller and make my own first.
