I did my first butt last week for the 4th. It turned out AWSOME!! I rubbed it with McCormick pork rub on Tuesday night and got up at 3:30am on Wednesday the 4th. Had it in the smoker by 4:15. Added wood a total of 3 times, used hickory chips. Sprayed with apple juice every hour till internal was 145 then wrapped in foil and was going to let it go till it got to 200. At 3:30 it was at 198 and we had a big storm rolling in so I took it out wrapped in towel and put in the cooler, less than one minute after it was out we got hit with a huge storm, I got lucky on the timing! After 2 hours in the cooler I opened the foil and let it cool for a little while and then pulled it, well more like just put it in a bowl and it just fell apart. The bone just pulled right out of the meat and the meat was tendy and juicy and tasted great. Served it with Sweet Baby Rays sauce on the side. The only thing I'll different next time is either smoke it a little longer before I wrap it in foil or maybe just add wood more often to get a stronger smoke flavor. Overall though for my first time doind a piece that big it was really good. Oh, it was about 6.75lbs. Sorry but no pictures.

Sounds like it was a great cook...congrat's!!! Like you said maybe a bit more smoke next time for such a long cook
Sweet Baby Rays was the best sauce I have ever had! I have not got into making my own sauces yet and may not even try it after finding this stuff. Had the Honey Chipotle and Hickory & Brown Surgar.

Yes, I agree... more smoke next time. Get the internal temp up to 160 then wrap... that should work for ya'.
