Well its been a minute. I haven't smoked since my last time... https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t...aturday-help-me-next-step-hooked-hard.324578/

Overall IMO the outcome was a massive success. Basically what I did last time was apple juice in the dripper and then put it in the apple juice and cooked it wrapped up after so many hours. I'm wanting to asked here...

If you were in my shoes how would you insure you had the winning taste? I was thinking either do the apple juice again because I know it worked or I was thinking cherry coke. I watched a video where a guy swears his cherry coke smoked with cherry wood is a prize winner.

Taste is subjective, so roll with what you are comfortable with and that’s just that.

Local judges?
If so, stick with flavor profiles that are popular in your area. I would definitely inject with something like Blues Hog pork injection and then use sauces common in your region.

Are you being judged on taste only or are there other factors like appearance? Pack it full of a flavor profile you are comfortable with. And give em hell.

It's a work function and will be only judged by taste. I would just like to blow everyone's socks off.

If I got to turn in a plate to be judged. I'd punch it with one bite flavor.
If it's a most votes situation. I'd stay basic and bring out the pork flavor. With a assorted sauce choice.

I agree, if it's more than a one bite challenge add flavor but don't over do it. Stick to what you know.

It's going to be voted by everyone. So you guys think I should stick to the apple juice setup like I did last time? I'm also going to attempt a beef brisket which I have NEVER done.
