Never did one. Planned on brisket for thr 4th but went with the tenderloins butt on impulse .

I always call it the large end too. Steak it out, or cook as a small roast. I like indirect with an end sear.It's the largest end of the tenderloin right ?
I just knew that from researching how to process when I bought a whole one once . Doesn't always look like the bigest end , because of the side muscle .I always call it the large end too.
