I've been fussing about steak quality, especially toughness. So I took a trip to the Costco Business Center, closed my eyes to the price tag, and came home with a choice beef tenderloin, weighing almost nine pounds.

I cut it into fillets and beef tips. Yesterday, I cooked the fillets to medium rare, and served it with Bearnaise sauce. It was a hit with the family.

Next time I may try a USDA Prime New York Top Loin, to get more of a beefy flavor.

I've posted a few opinions about the meat prices at Costco and Sams in regard to the membership fees. IMO its just not worth it, but if you had a great steak, than I say keep doin' it!

I hear you on that Chris, i have a membership at Costco. I do not shop there enough to justify it . But I do buy a lot of propane and that more then makes up for the membership.

Best price around for the propane, and I can take my 20lb, 30lb and my 100 lb er.

I have had a Costco account since it was Price Club and you had to have a certain job to even get an account to shop there.

Personally I haven't been in ours in years (too crowded for my liking) but have considered going to get a prime rib rack. My wife goes there a lot.

I can feel my blood pressure rise before I even enter their parking lot. Our store is like the 3rd busiest in the country from what I'm told by a friend that works there. I'd sure hate to see the other two ahead of us. We used to buy a lot there, then we joined Sam's, the amount of people at Sam's is way more doable for my vibe.

Good man! We by nothing but prime beef at Costco, and haven't been disappointed yet. That Bearnaise sauce treatment sounds wonderful.

Keep in mind this is Costco Business, not their regular store. Far less crowded. I love it
The one near me is "somewhat" less crowded. But if you're okay with buying LARGE pieces of meat and breaking them down yourself, it is a bit less per lb than the regular Costcos. You can always count on them to have full packers of corned beef briskets around St. Patty's day. It's also where I got my pork hind leg for the prosciutto I made some years ago. These days, I'd really have to clear out the chest freezer to make that much space.

Nice. I'm big on the business center, too. Way less crowded than the regular store and slightly better pricing on meat prices. BC also have (had?) skinless pork belly for less money than skin on at the regular.

The prime strip used to be my favorite purchase.
I've got a lot of freezer to eat down before I have room for a big purchase.
Planning a chuck roll next time so I can break it down and make some pastrami out of a roast.

Hawaii. I walked in with my wife a few years ago and immediately turned around to go wait in the car.

When I lived in SLC we had the biggest Costco in the US. The meat locker was a huge walkin with insane amounts of beef, palates of briskets to choose from...I miss it so much!

I've been to the Costco in Puerto Vallarta a few times. Oddly, it's seldom ever crowded, even though the locals use it, too. I think the most people I've seen in there at any one time is maybe 50. Mostly the same stuff as US, but they do have a great selection of Mexican beers. Also, their food court hot dogs come with salsa and sliced jalapenos. Other amenities include employees that help you to your car with purchases, and another that will waive down a cab for you if you're not driving yourself. Plus it has great AC, which is very much welcomed.

I was just in the Costco on the Big Island of Hawaii a few weeks ago, at about 10:00 AM. I was completely shocked there were parking spots right up front, and inside the store was less than 1/4 of the people that are normally in my home store in NorCal at that time Our store is a complete $#!t show 90% of the time that we go, you have to park out in the boonies to find a space big enough for my truck, where it won't get beat to hell by the Prius or Tesla door digs.
I swear I want to strangle some of those drivers, they're basically driving a battery powered roller-skate, and watching them try to park the things it's as if they're driving a big rig, it's painful too watch.

Sam's lot is always less people and parking is a breeze so we go their mainly these days.

And they have Blanton's as low as $60 a bottle at times.

(That right there is worth the price of the yearly admission too me).😜🤣
