Finally went to the store today and saw some meat that wasn't an insane price as they had some hormel spare ribs on sale. Not a real "sale" for pre-covid but given how expensive everything has been I can live with finding racks for around $10 a piece. Anyway i bought 4 and threw them in the freezer, but the only ribs i've cooked to this point has been Aldi and it seems like most people are posting costco or sams, so how are Hormel? I saw they're pre-injected so I'm not sure what to expect.

All I buy are Hormel because that's what my preferred grocer carries. I've smoked dozens upon dozens of them. They are pre-injected, so don't brine them. Dry brine is fine, but I usually unwrap, rub, throw on the smoker and don't bother with dry brining.
Perfect. Yeah my plan we to defrost, rinse, pat dry, throw on some rub and get em on the smoker.

Most of the ribbs I get are from Aldi but once in a while the Cub store has a special the I will take advantage of. I can't tell the difference. All are good.

I’ve never seen hormel ribs. I typically get my ribs from Aldi or Sams club. Both are good quality. For me meat quality is more important than price.

I get Hormel ribs, shoulders, and chops from local grocer chain and they are not 'enhanced".
Local Wally store is typically Smithfield. Don't usually buy them.

Just went out to the freezer. Got two racks of Hormel untrimmed spares out there and a few butts. The ones I have all are enhanced. Took a pic but upside down. Be right back.

Right under "pork spareribs" it details the enhancement.

If they look good and are fairly inexpensive then that's the ribs for me. We usually buy our ribs at Costco. They have the best prices around here.

Cant' say they were the cheapest haha but given how bad prices have been here lately they were cheap enough for me to commit. Pork butt around here is still around $2 per lb and these ribs were just under $3. its' crazy.

Thank you. Missed that detail on the ribs. Don't usually get them, but 99¢/# was not to pass up during this stupidity, uh pandemic.
Local grocer adds a nice label that states sodium is 95 mg per 4 oz. Wife and I can work with that
I don't use a rub. Usually, I dust the ribs with a spice blend that is no sugar and very low salt.

I double checked the shoulder and chops and they are not tainted.

I'll stay with Costco now that meat prices are back to reasonable
