Sounds like the amp chip itself smoked (worked for years then suddenly stopped) you can fix it but it's cheaper to get an upgrade than to repair. Soldering 24 pins on a multi layer circuit board is a pain and nobody wants to do it anymore.

I put in prolly a dozen systems over the years. Some worth more than the car itself :emoji_laughing: My gut is telling me you need to start looking for another unit.
If you can fit a 7" screen in there, get one with carplay or android play.

I picked up a Sony AX4000. Installed out the door 1K. All the steering controls work, they had to install a new microphone. I wish I had done it years earlier. Went in a 2015 4Runner. No amp or new speakers, they wanted 3K for that. I dint really care for going that big, me hearing is F'ed enough.

This is in my old 1995 beater jeep- ain’t no steering wheel controls. But I appreciate all the replies and suggestions. It’s a work in progress at this point.

Man I hate a site like this that is no help at all. Kidding. If this was 1995 I cod be of help but it's been a long time since I did install at best buy. Stupid question though... did your check output to the speakers? Again stupid question but seems we are at "it's gotta be something stupid" time

Ok after more research and looking into the possibility of a blown internal amp I consulted cousin- he was a Best Buy manager and now works at a huge auto sales place. He asked if the speakers made any sound at all…nope….yep it’s a blown amp he says. I txt that back to smart uncle and he agreed as the chat thing he was using kept asking about the amp etc. I ordered a new stereo. I may upgrade speakers while I’m at it lol

I agree but was hoping you lucked out. Nice unit. The key to good sound is speakers IMO, heads unit not so much. In our case, I have experience. My brother had 1994 Wrangler. We did the head and speakers and it was still weak. Put in a small sub and it came ALIVE. Not talking license plate shaking just a low powered thing. I think the doors being removable do not have the size to help those speakers reproduce low frequencies. The VW's I owned had the same issue. Very weak bass. Current car is an Audi and it comes with a factory sub. 8" 100W something like that so nothing crazy but it does the job. Something like this is an easy add self powered etc. I believe there are marine units as well just kinda showing you the idea.
