Will need to pick up a bottle this week.My son works for a local small distillery in Columbus Ohio (Hilliard) They focus on small batch bourbon. Their corn is grown in my neighborhood. They work with a local farmer and have raise their corn crop. They then process it. Thy also make a lemon-cello. This year they made their first Rye whisky. Very good bourbon at a good price. They have won a number of medals at the World Spirits Competition. Check them out if you are in Ohio.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. And now also know Jim Beam is owned by the Japanese. They needed to do something, the Japanese whisky I drank while there in the 80's was not good!Jim Beam Halts Production at Flagship Distillery as Whiskey and Bourbon Markets Struggle - The New York Times https://share.google/lKeakgvRQibOKzCmV

I second your Broken Fence comment. Picked up a bottle a few weeks back and really enjoyed it. Haven't been back to Specs since, but it's on the list to grab some more.I appreciate a good pour but still not drinking very often due to current medications. I do still bottle hunt and grabbed a few just this week. Local Spec's has more Buffalo Trace than you can shake a stick at and for years that hasn't been the case. You had to hunt for it and when you could find it they'd go to the back room to get it. Had a few local shops trying to charge $60 for a $27 bottle. I'm just not doing that.

Broken Fence was a nice find. An associate at Specs recommended it and even said if I didn't like it he'd buy me a bottle on my next visit. A few weeks later when I saw him I just gave him a high five. I also got "ducked" while I was there![]()
I also like Evan Williams in the plastic bottles. Those are perfect for NASCAR races at TMS where you can't bring in glass.
That's a fine collection you got there Quigs.
I subscribe to a channel on YouTube called SLB Basement Bourbon Bar. It features a guy and his son who taste whiskeys and will give you the good, the bad, and the ugly reviews, and whether they think the price point is worth it, or not. They don't shill for anyone, and I've found their opinions to be quite helpful when navigating the huge list of bourbons out there. Thanks, I hadn't seen that. And now also know Jim Beam is owned by the Japanese. They needed to do something, the Japanese whisky I drank while there in the 80's was not good!
I just wonder if we'll see a drop in the totally FU prices some whiskeys have gotten to be. I refuse anymore to do what some of you do and buy top shelf whiskeys having not tasted them before. I'm sorry but some are overrated. I've bought $60 a fifth bourbon, touting all its flavors and notes and real pretty bottles, only to find the $30 a half gallon Even Williams Black is actually better. Most wont admit that...or even have Evan Williams on hand to know! There IS some outstanding bourbon out there though, far better than EWB, but its a financial minefield buying them to find out. I frigging drink bourbon, not sip it, so it can hit my wallet fast!

Even though it's made by Buffalo Trace, the Blanton's brand is owned by the Japanese. ..Jim Beam is owned by the Japanese.
