The Boss, my loving wife Ernestina, has one. We bought it when we were in AZ from a shop that restores them. Ernie is one of those folks that sort of "flies by the seat of the pants" when it comes to cooking. She made some cookies today, apparently they needed to be cooked exactly as instructed. She set the range to 375* per the instructions. Cookies did not come out right so I grabbed my Thermoworks that I have been using on the BGE. Oven was only at 335*. Anybody know of a place that can recalibrate the thermostat....or perhaps tell me how if is something that a mechanically inclined individual can do themselves?

I have no clue

. But I will give it a bump. I hope you find the answer. One thing is maybe it is set for propane??? If so some ovens can be changed over with just a wrench. Where the gas nipple goes into the burner their is a place you can put a wrench on that fitting. You turn it all the way the other direction.

Happy smoken.

When the company we got it from restored it they converted it over to propane. From what I remember just some sort of nipple was added to the supply line. Ernie is going to call them tomorrow to see what they have to say about things. These folks have helped us out in the past when we had a burner problem.

I hope they get you going. Let us know what they say.

There is an adapter fitting for propane it has a very small hole where natural gas is wide open. It your stove is set up for propane and you are using natural gas it isn't getting enough gas.

If you remove the control knob the shaft should be hollow and a long skinny screwdriver will find an adjustment screw at the bottom of the shaft hole a quarter turn will change the temperature about 25 degrees but I can't recall if left- right= up-down.

If so.. I would think turning the screw to the right would be like turning the heat up with the knob (turning it to the right)...

let her call... and also ask them about this adjustment...

The thermostat is a bimetal click on click off type devise and probably the right hand rotation raises the temperature or it may be a bulb and capillary tube and bellows but the adjustment screw still changes the set point. Make a small change and check then make another change if it is needed.

Not the best picture...I am a bit shakey today. There is indeed a small screw in the center....I will try moving it a bit tomorrow and checking it with my thermometer....Thanks a bunch...

Gave the small screw a small tweaking. At 250* it went from being 45* under to 8* under. Cool.....then it went out....WTH? Lit it again and went up to 325* with the knob at 250*. Tweaked screw again and at 250* it was only 195* on my thermometer. And it went out again. Lit it again and cranked it up to 450*.....it floated from 425* to 505* on the thermometer. And started making the sound of a gas burner running out of fuel....followed by a puff of complete re-ignition. Can't help but wonder if there is not some dirt in the valve...
