Hello all, I just found this forum a few days ago and have been reading a lot. Years ago I had a charcoal smoker but was not very good at it. I decided to give it a try again. My son bought me a MES 130B for Fathers day. I asked for a MES 30 but he decided I needed a digital one. I see a lot of info about the MES 30 but not much on the 130. Did I make a mistake letting him get a digital one or will it be fine. I see a lot of mod's for the 30 does that apply to the 130B also? Just looking for some info to get started.

Welcome to the site, glad you decided to join. Sorry I can't help with your questions, but I don't think a mistake was made. All different types of smokers are used by people on this site and all have posted great looking meals. It boils down to the man/woman behind the smoker rather then the smoker itself.
