I've got a set routine as it's time to put my summer ride into hiberation.

I asked AI the question:

Should I wash my car first, then gas it up or gas it up then wash it?

The answer?

You should wash your car first, then gas it up. This prevents dirt from the gas station, which can happen during fueling, from getting on your clean car's exterior.

WTF?

AI Web basically scrapes the web and tries to summarize it. I like it because so much content on the web is BS. Before AI I had to read many web pages to get a straight answer. AI usually comes up with the best answer for me on the simple things and saves me time. Your result is funny though. You already know the answer, you gas up, then wash in case you accidentally got some gas on the outside of your car! I think the answer you got was a translation in to "Engrish". Like reading a Chinese manual that comes in micro-size form you need a magnifying glass to even see.

Web pages have begun to be AI stupid also. I swear many of them are nothing but AI in long form. I hate when I search for something...say something random like "pizza slice" and so many pages are like a question and answer form..."What is a pizza slice?", "can I eat a pizza slice?", whats on a pizza slice?", can a pizza slice be used as a screwdriver?", "whats the best way to hammer a pizza slice in to a sidewalk?"...they go on and on with this nonsense and I just wanted a pizza slice...

For my day job (geotechnical engineer - aka foundation engineer) - I use AI several times per day. AI has its uses and - one thing I find to be true - you have to be very, VERY specific. I often write out 2 or 3 paragraphs if preliminary info (in WORD) and cut-paste that into 3 different AI models to see what they come up with.

Grok is my most used AI (I pay about $10/month for this one), followed by free ChatGPT and then free Google-Gemini. Paid version of GROK is better than the free version - which is simply an older version of Grok. The free version if GROK is better than the other 2 as well in some areas, although Chat GPT is better at conversational AI than GROK at times.

You may recall Gemini had early problems...trying to take over the world and kill all humans...real creepy "Terminator" stuff. All better now - that I can tell.

HELPFUL HINT - Always put in "SHORT ANSWERS PLEASE" so they dont try to teach you how to do whatever you are asking about.

Ha HAAA... You gotta love it ... Something bad is gonna happen one day, If it hasn't already, with false/bad info from AI ...
AI was responsible for recommending bad travel routes last winter in Wyoming. I-80 is 400 miles long in the state and sections often close unexpectedly due to snow or black ice. AI was recommending smaller county roads, some of which are not maintained on a regular basis.
AI is only as good as the humans who made it.
That's why we're so afraid of one realizing just how stupid we are, and deciding to exterminate us.
AI enthusiasm in the stock market is getting unusually high, bordering on over valued. I'm wondering about market reaction if this bubble should pop.
