A real Steak Sandwich (Vito’s)

I don’t know if I showed one of these before, but this is a Steak Sandwich from one of my favorite Italian Joints nearby.
This one is called a “Special Steak”.
It’s not a Cheesesteak, as it has no cheese.
It has Chip Steak, a little Steak sauce, Fried Onions, Mushrooms, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers, and a couple Pickle chips.

It always weighs over 2 pounds, and costs $8.50, last I looked.

Years ago I could eat the whole thing, but now it takes me 2 or 3 meals to finish it.
With this one I ate one half the first night, then I split the other half lengthwise the next night & put it in my toaster oven for another Supper.
On the third night, I did the same with the last quarter of this Mighty Tasty Beast.

This comes from Vito’s, on Rt 100, just south of Shimerville, PA, about 4 miles from the Bear’s Den.
It's Steaks like this that show how Poor the Tourist Traps, like Pat's & Geno's truly are.

Enjoy the Pics.

Woo Hoo that is one good looking sandwich!!
I know I couldn't eat the whole thing, but I'd darn sure give it a try!
Maybe with a few beers to wash it down with too!
Good stuff John!!

Man we going to have to get smellavison as Emeril would say. Wow I would like that with cheese too but I could handle that as is.

Oh!
I LOVE Beast Sandwiches!
When it takes a few settings to consume the beast it just adds to the enjoyment.
And for $8.50, sucha deal!

My neighbors spend a lot of time eating out every day. But usually Jack In The Box.
They go there so much for Breakfast Burritos, the cook knows them and starts their order when they walk in. He holds up two fingers, and Jerry (neighbor) flashes back two fingers.
Caricatures.

Is that "steak sauce" like Heinz 57 or? From the other pics I you posted I thought it was marinara. Talk to me on the peppers. Red are sweet and sauted and yellow are the pickled? Plan to try this style for wife since I know she would love it.

The sweet peppers are just red & green, and the hot peppers are just like the hot "Banana Peppers" that I use on mine when I make them at home. Never any "Pickled Peppers".
As for the sauce, there are a lot of different sauces used here in the Cheesesteak Belt, from Marinara to Spaghetti sauce.
And there are a lot of mixtures out there, I don't mind Marinara on my Steak Sammies, or some of the mixtures, but I hate when they use Spaghetti Sauce on a Cheesesteak. That totally ruins a Steak Sammy!!!
Actually the best Steak Sandwich Sauce we've ever had is what we've been using at home for many years, and a few of the Steak Joints have pretty close mixes to our favorite.
We prefer, by far the following Steak Sandwich Sauce:

Thank You Al!!
Yeah, I save a lot of money by not being able to eat like I used to.
I could tell you stories of how I used to eat an unbelievable amount & never gain an ounce!!
Like---Shortly after I got out of the Army, Linda got a Family pack of Fresh sausage.
There were 48 sausages in the pack, each a little thicker than 1", and 3" long.
She ate 2 of them & I ate the other 46 & some Home Fries, before I left the table. I just couldn't stop!!
Now that same pack would last us nearly a week!!
And Thanks for the Like.

Interesting. Never heard of that stuff. Gut is telling me jazzed up marinara. Debating on dropping $20 for a pair from Amazon. Seriously, my wife would probably move to Philly if that thing is as good as it looks. Phillys are one of the main the reasons I got the flat top with home fries being a close second.

Yup,
Mrs Bear makes awesome Home Fries:
She first makes Baked potatoes.
Then lets them cool.
Then peels them & cuts them up.
Then Fries them in a pan with butter until much of it is Browned.
Great Bear Bait !!!

Thank You Warren!!
Yeah I almost always forget, I have to say "Special Steak with cheese", because they don't have a "Special Cheesesteak" on their menu, and I want the "Special" one, because it's huge & has everything.
And Thanks for the Like.

Yup, That's how she Bakes them---10 minutes in the Nuke-You-Later.
I like skin on my Baked Taters, but not in my Home Fries.
