Yes I have a YS640 which I still love. I usually place it on the left side on the lower rack. I have attached an image of where I place it on my smoker.
I have a smaller Traeger and mine did the same thing. Mine bent at the hinge. What I ended up doing was I added washers to the existing bolts and drilling another hole for a 3rd bolt in the middle towards the top. Sorry I don't have pictures, it is my camper smoker and it is 2hrs away.
I decided to do my first smoked turkey on my YS640. The mother-in-law was cooking a traditional turkey so there was not any pressure on me if I made a mistake. I choose to spatchcock the turkey and I will never smoke a turkey a different way.

I own a Yoder 640 and love it. It is absolutely the best pellet grill I have ever owned. I really like how I can smoke or grill since the grill can hit temps of 600-700°. I have never owned a Rec-Tec but from the forum they seem like very nice smokers.
If money is not an issue I would for sure...
