I don't have a pit boss, but I found out their temperature probes are PT1000 RTD types which I need for a different application. But all the aftermarket cables I can find on amazon are 50" or shorter. Anyone know where I can get really long pit boss temperature probes?
Here's one example on...
I grew up eating a ton of kalbi (korean beef short ribs) and it's always been cooked over a grill, hot and fast. I tried smoking some years ago but it turned out more jerky than tender, and I swore I'd never do it again. I think the problem then was that I smoked it at too high a temperature...
i did a search here for "lidl" and didn't really come up with much. they currently have their st louis style ribs on sale for $1.49/lb. i picked up 5 and plan to do one tonight. if it's any good i may go and pick up 5 more. anyone have any thoughts on their quality...
I've been on a keto diet with <20g carbs per day since the start of 2019 in order to lower my triglyceride to HDL ratio. A recent blood test confirms it's been working. I suggest everyone to re-examine their most recent blood tests and double check their Tri/HDL ratios. Even if all the numbers...
i just noticed the persistent frame on the right side when reading threads. is this a new feature? not sure what benefit it's supposed to provide. it shows stats for number of messages and likes, members online now, and new posts, none of which i care to see when reading threads. is there a way...
anyone see any issues with taking an 8-9lb shoulder butt, and slicing it in half to make pulled pork? my assumption is that it would cut the cook time in half, and double the amount of bark and smoke ring. or is it better to smoke it as one whole piece versus two half pieces?
has anyone tried to run a "self cleaning" cycle on their propane smoker similar to what you'd do on a home kitchen oven? basically close all doors and vents and turn up the heat as high as it'll go. i don't have my masterbuilt user manual anymore, but was wondering if they would advise against...
i usually smoke all 3 ribs in a costco pack of ribs, and can eat them all within a week. due to diet changes, i'm trying to avoid eating so much at a time.
would you guys suggest smoking all 3 ribs, portioning and freezing them to eat later?
or smoking one at a time? if so, how would i...
anybody get a whole prime ribeye from costco and dry age it? if so, how did it turn out? did you have to ask the butcher in the back for a special cut for dry aging purposes, or just grabbed one off the cooler? i just got back from my local costco, and they're priced at $10.99/lb. i guess that's...
in case anyone's interested, costco has the nuwave 10qt air fryer on sale for $70 ($30 off regular price). retails for around $150, i think.
reviews are a little mixed, but most complain about the lid mechanism which doesn't seem like that big a deal when looking at videos of how it actually...
some background info... i did a cold smoke for the very first time yesterday on a pork belly i'm turning into bacon. it had cured for 14 days, rested overnight, then cold smoked for about 6.5 hours for the first time yesterday using CookinPellets Perfect Mix Smoking Pellets that i had ground up...
Costco has a 4.4cu mini fridge for $120 right now. Assuming it can maintain proper temperatures 36-38F, would it be suitable for curing pork belly and dry aging steaks?

I'm setting up my 40" inch propane masterbuilt to cold smoke some pork belly bacon. I have a tube smoker housed in a separate box outside of the masterbuilt, and there's a 6" diameter vent hose that connects the two. Ambient temperature was 55F, smoker temperature got as high as 66F.
There's...
what do you guys do when you're done smoking your food but the pellets in your AMN pellet smoker or tube still has a ways to go? do you guys reuse the partially charred pieces (after snuffing out the ember), or discard them?
i see some people recommend a scale that has a resolution of .01 grams for figuring out how much cure to use per pound/kg of meat. i started my first bacon making adventure last night, and used a scale with .1 gram resolution.
after rubbing the cure and salt onto the pork belly and then into...
i wasn't sure where to post this, since technically it's not a smoker. but i don't see why you couldn't use it as a smoker by setting the coals to the side like all the other webers out there, so i'm posting it here. :)
anyone have this charcoal grill from walmart? this configuration seems very...
i'm researching how to do my first bacon, and was reading up on "bricans" method of cold smoking and dry aging bacon. my initial plan is to cold smoke it for 16 hours over several days, and hold in the fridge between smokes.
after the cold smoking, i was planning to hang it in a part of my...
in case anyone's in the market for an air fryer, gourmia's are now on sale at costco.com. both 5 and 6 quart models are $15 off. the price is great, but their return policy is even better if you ever have issues with it at any time.

i have the 6 quart and love it. i...
