So I decided that this summer I am going to enter my first competition. This is something that I have wanted to do for some time now but always found an excuse not to. I am doing it for the experience, and hopefully to make a good showing. I do not know the first thing about it, except I do...
Just ordered the Smokey Mountain and I want to get a wind shield so I can use it in the cold. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive way of doing this? I thought about getting a metal garbage can to place over the top. Thought about a plastic one, but I am not sure how much heat it can take. Thanks.
Spoofer,
Where did you get your Weber for 199.00? I live in Buffalo and just order one online for 239.00. That was the best price I could find. I am eager to try it out in the cold. i have a chargriller with sfb and it does nothing in the cold. I am going through bbq withdrawal.
I am smoking two whole chickens tomorrow. They are about 7lbs apiece and I am using the beer can method. How long should they cook for at 230 degrees? I thought that I read it is about 30 minutes per pound. Anyone have a rub recipe to share? Thanks.
I have a chargriller with SFB that I purchased from Lowes a few years back. The SFB does not close flush anymore which is letting a lot of air in and I am having problems smoking. I do not want to buy a new SFB, and I wanted to know if there is anyone that can suggest an easy modification to...
Happy Thanksgiving all. I am smoking an 18lb turkey ($.29 lb). I am going to cook it Wednesday night. What is the best method to reheat? I was thinking of either slicing it wednesday night or leaving it whole and reheating in the oven on thanksgiving. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi all,
I have a 4lb chicken that I am going to throw on the smoker today. This is my first chicken and I would like to know how long to cook it for at 230? Thanks.
This saturday I am doing 10 lbs of eye of round for my son's birthday. Never done it before, and I wanted to know if anyone can share a rub or marinate recipe for the meat? Thanks.
I am planning on doing some ribs for the fourth. I went to the local BJ's wholesale and found spares that were cut into fours small racks.
My question is, do i still do the 3-2-1 method or should I cook them more like babybacks and 2-2-1? thanks.
I did an 8lb shoulder on Saturday to serve on Fathers Day. I also used a foil pan and put a few splashes of apple juice and put foil over the pan. I set my gas grill on the lowest setting and placed the pork on the non lit side for about 1 1/2 hours.
Everybody loved it and said it was the...
Hi All,
Could someone give me an idea if Eye of Round is a good cut of Beef. The local market has a buy one get one free sale. I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to buy it if it is not good. Thanks.

Hi all,
I am cooking up a picnic cut tomorrow, 8lbs but I may cut about 2lbs off because i do not want to start at 3am. I know that the picnic cut has a tough fat cap. Should I cut this off or leave it on? Thanks.

One questions, will it say "packer" on the packaging? I am new to this and when I decide to do my first brisket, I want to be sure I know what to look for. Thanks.
I live in Western New York and BJ's wholesale had flats for $3.59 lb and Wal-Mart was $3.50. I debating wether to do a brisket for a family party next week or stick with shoulders and ribs.
Being new to smoking, I have done poultry, ribs and butts, and now I want to do a brisket for an August party of about 12 people.
I do not even know where to start with the questions. My first is about the brisket itself. What am I looking for when I go to find one? Is there a special cut...
