Don’t soak em. If they are wet they won’t smolder, burn or smoke until they dry out.

Ok can I use pellets

Don't use pellets in place of wood chips . Buy the smoke tray or tube , but do not load pellets into the chip tray .
It can become very dangerous .

Nope no pellets in electric smoker use tube or tray. I use to soak chips for like 30 minutes now I don't and it works great.

It can become very dangerous .

You can until the pellets catch fire after about 5 minutes or so. I tried tonight. its on you tube... Wood pellets in an electric smoker MES40 chip smoker pt1 ... pt 2 is the proper extinguishing, lol
