wild boar

I have a fresh wild boar ham I would like to smoke it, my question is since it is wild is there going to be a wild game taste to this ham, and if there is would I have to somehow marinade it to get the wild game taste out before I smoke it , If anyone has any sugestions for me I would greatly appriaciate it, thank. so much,

Well if you want it to taste like ham, you may want to add some cure to your brine…about 1 oz. to a gallon of water, and throw in a couple Tbs. of crushed juniper berries. With the other stuff you use that should help that wild flavor! Perhaps do some injecting. You might want to check out our forum under pork for some curing ideas. Some other ideas, guys?
