Who remembers these?

We used to get Shiner Bock beer balls all the time, great taste, much better than out of a bottle.
Kept it in the fridge for a week unless we had friends over...
I used to work on the Shiner distributor's beer trucks here in Austin in the early 80's and would trade beer for repairs from time to time.
In addition to Shiner products they also distributed Spaten, and half a dozen other special beers.
I was very fond of Double Spaten my self.

How about this stuff.I got so sick on it as teen that I can't stand the smell of any type of mint/peppermint liqueur to this day.

JUST before my time. I remember seeing them but not being allowed to enjoy.

This stuff went like wildfire here on the Lake. After that it was Corona with lime. No idea how our why but Brandy Alexanders are THE drink of the islands.

I'm different. I have never sampled the MD 20/20 mentioned. A variety of beers and wines, hard liquors, moonshine, etc, and I plead the fifth on the joint.

Forgot to mention hard cider ........ that will get you jacked up right quick, since it goes down like sparkling apple juice.

Party balls. We had a guy in high school who would make wine in them after we emptied them out. Terrible stuff - welches grape juice, water, extra sugar and a little yeast. God it was horrid.

Sometimes he'd mix it up with other juices like apple or cranberry. It all tasted the same. Horrid.

But it was alcohol and it was cool because he made it. Sometimes it was very stout.

There was likker around but it was hard to get for kids. The girl I took to prom took me down in the basement to show me her dad's little setup. I did swipe a half pint jar and we had a few sips on the way there. She lived WAY out in the sticks and the buzz was righteous by the time we actually got there.

I did a number of batches in plastic gallon jugs long ago. Juice concentrate, sugar, yeast, and water. A balloon was placed on top in place of the cap while the contents turned into booze. You did have to let the gas out of the balloon every day or two ........... made one hell of a mess if the balloon exploded!

Apple juice concentrate actually made the best tasting stuff. The grape wasn't too good, but it was drinkable.

Coors Light Party Ball, aahhh the fond memories. I had to quit smoking left hand cigarettes by 1980 so beer was my go-to buzz.
Well, I guess not a lot has changed other than I get to smoke cigars now.

MD and Thunderbird weren't popular where I went to school but Boone's Farm and Annie Green Springs were.
Party ball's were popular too. Much easier to deal with than kegs when you had a 60 mile round trip to return the kegs for the deposit.

God, that stuff was sickly sweet!
Didn't seem that sweet to me (then again I was like 16) :emoji_laughing: Definitely preferred Bartles & Jaymes over SC. Friday night, back seat of the car somewhere deserted, radio on, cooler of wine coolers.

I recall the beer balls. The first that come to mind were the Oly balls. Olympia that is. Colors light were different.. kinda see thru brown and cheap. Those Oly balls were hard white plastic and would knock you silly if someone popped you in the head with an empty one.
