Wet Smoker :(

So my new MES 30 arrived yesterday, and just as we as we finished setting it up on the deck and went inside to have a sandwich and unpack the new box of wood chips to season it, there is a sudden out of nowhere downpour.   It only last 10 minutes, but it was heavy!

Today it will be 30 Degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and sunny.       How long should I wait to run it?    12 hours?   24?   48?

Thanks for any advice.

I am just worried because its electrical.   Many other electrical things have a guide that suggests waiting so long.    But the MES book just says "Don't get it wet!"

Put it under cover.... open it up.... place a fan in front then behind to attempt to dry out all the electrical.. In todays modern "micro" electronics, a small amount of moisture can release all the "smoke" manufacturers put in their components.... once the smoke is "gone", stuff don't work no more..... You can also put an electric heater inside the smoker, with the smoker door open to assist in this drying process... Try and get the inside near 200 deg. F to drive the moisture out of the case...

Do NOT plug it in.... WAIT as long as you can to fire it up.....

Yes, thanks for confirming.   I was thinking that would be the case.     Fans have been going back and front for awhile now.     I would not have thought about a heater inside.

I'd be more than a little disappointed if it was not made for outdoor use.  Let us know how it works out.

Unit worked just fine the next day.    Better than the user in fact.
