We are looking to upgrade our Klose 20" X 48" pipe smoker and would like to purchase something larger, perhaps 24" x 48". Most importunately, more temperature stable and less hot spots than the current Klose. It would need to be a caster mounted stick burner - a basic offset smoker that holds temperature well and keeps even temperatures across the cooking grates.
We live in the Houston, Texas area and would like to buy local and support the area smoker manufactures. From our research, we have located three viable offset smoker manufactures in the area.
1) Gator Pits
2) Lone Star Grillz
3) Pits by JJ
Before we drop $5K on a new smoker, does anyone have any positive or negative comments about the above manufactures? Are there any must-have options that these smoker manufactures offer?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
