All right we started the Vortex this time for more pecan chicken legs! Fired up with Royal oak ridge briquettes and a nice chunk of pecan over it. Will be served with some Mac and cheese and a hunk of garlic bread. These were seasoned once more with Bad Byrons butt rub a great all around rub!

Pretty legs, nice color on them too. I bet they were tasty!

Thanks X-ray, they definitely weren't bad, more sauce would of been nice but the other stuff I had in the fridge was to spicy for swmbo. Here's my plate.

Looks mighty fine!!

LOVE my vortex in the kettle! It has been the most useful gizmo I have ever used for direct / indirect grilling. My best wings ever were with the vortex and some of that Totanka dust.. Wow!

Yea man, they look great.    I dont like my chicken to messy so that looks perfect.

You already know how I feel about the vortex.

Thanks Pit,I agree the dust is amazing also. Do you have a rotisserie setup for your kettle there pretty handy as well.

I don't care for them messy either, these only got sauce on the exposed side. I was hoping to spin these with the Oktoforks but didn't have the time, trying to rip out some carpet and cleanup new carpet in on Tuesday and then we can get our new furniture later this week!:yahoo:

I do not.

I usually rott. in my UDS or on my Weber genesis gasser.

Is there a "store bought" setup or is your kettle spit a completely custom mod?

The dust is amazing.. just don't take a whiff of it unless you want to sneeze for a day or two..

Sorry for the late reply, the rotisserie setup is from Cajun bandit I got that and the ribolator and the used Performer for the cost of a new Performer.

Very nice legs there, skin is real nice .. bet they were good..

Looks tasty man, I prefer my chicken dry rubbed & we really like Bad Byron's... Thumbs Up

Just got a Vortex a few weeks ago and haven't had a lot of time to play with it except for wings. Awesome wings!
Planning a b/c chicken or legs next. I need to check out this Bad Bryan's....

Not much BBQ sauce but it will work

Those look great, points! I'm curious about the Vortex. What is the upside to using one, compared to regular grilling?

Thanks Jetsknicks1, the Vortex puts out very high heat, great for searing, but also great for lazy indirect cooking especially in a kettle the flow of heat is nice and even just flip once and let it finish nice for brats and sausages too!
