Hi everyone my name is Dave O. this is my second day on the site and I'm signing on.
I am a 64 year old Viet Nam vet and retired social worker ( my clients were juvenile felons and there was never a dull moment).
I live in central Ohio with my wonderful wife Brenda on a couple of acres outside the city limits. I have a cat rescue operation and currently care for 28 cats , two families of raccoon several opossum and a big black n tan dog. ( rott / lab mix....heavy on the rott)
I have been grilling or smoking for over 45 years but I will be the first to say " the more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to learn. That's why I am attracted to this site. I have used the same Weber vertical two level smoker that I got as a Christmas bonus at my job in 1988. I take care of it....it takes everything I toss in it.
Five years ago I bought a Char Broil Gas grill to take care of the lite work and I have only had to replace the pezzo igniter and this winter I'll replace the grill inserts because of excessive wire brush use.
In the not so distant future I plan to weld up a new smoker big enough to roast a whole hog. Right now I'm planning the plan and not the event ;-))
I look forward to a long lasting relationship with Smoking Meatforum.com and it's members.
Thanks, Dave Ohler
