For me the best place to buy casings is Butcher and Packer if your looking to buy them by the hank. They dont sell pretubed. Syracuse casings sells them pre tubed if you want to go that route.

Where's the best place to buy these ?? Or just plain sheep casings.
I've gotten all of my casings, and all tubed, from Syracuse Casing Company. Always been very happy. There are probably a lot of places out there to get them though.

Here you go... I did a comparison, converted all casing amounts hanks, feet, pounds etc to one unit for comparison, read all notes, sourcing, shipping, etc.

There are 2 or 3 very good sources, however, thesausagemaker dot com was 2 or 3x cost.

I used Butchers Pantry, was very impressed. 2 days to door, well packed, good tunes, good product with long lengths and no holes. Will use again.

Maybe it's just me, but I find pre-tubed casings more of a hassle to use than just sliding regular casings onto the horn. It also seems like you're getting scraps and pieces that weren't suitable to use in a hank.

Doug, actually most of the producers whose details I read, use their highest rated AA casings on the tubed, with the longest runs. The batch casings in a bucket are the shorter lengths that couldnt be all run onto one tube. Not all the 6 places gave casing quality info, bit the ones that did give the ratings, tubed were best.

I actually switched back to tubed just for the longer better runs.

I got tubed from TSM, and it's mostly shorter pieces.
Yah, I was using their stuff, and their stated lengths is shorter than every other manufacturer. I wasn't happy with their product either, which is why I did that linked comparison. I think they were the worst of all those I looked at for stated quality ratings, length, and price. It was an eye opener for me.

They calibrate them so you get close to the same size.
