I was about to do a post as well, thank you Lemans. A tragic day in history, every one take a moment to reflect on it and remember those who were lost this day.

Never Forget! Never Forgive!

Where were You?

I was delivering a trailer today at 5 AM. I had to wait while other rigs positioned and parked.
Two guys were in the other half of the parking area and wouldn't let any of the rigs cross their coned divider. I figured they were just your typical foreign nationals and full of vinegar.
Until I noticed one spread his prayer mat, faced the East, and stuck his butt in the air like a disturbed stink bug.
Oh! How I wanted to put my boot in his butt. (Because it's illegal to shoot them.)

I was at work when I heard some folks talking about a plane crashing into the tower. The guy in the office next to me took off home w/o locking his door. I got on the phone and called my cousin whose a firefighter in Long Island. Thank god he didn't have to respond.

I was at work. When I saw the towers collapse, I knew what happened, lost a lot of fellow firefighters that day, also police, and citizens. Shortly after I saw it, on TV we got dispatched to a wild land fire, and were told no air support. All planes had been grounded, thank goodness small fire....we were all glued to the tv that day. I will not forget!

Of all things... I was flying that day on my way to Logan International... I still have my ticket stubs. What a nightmare it was when they landed us (grounded us). Pilot/aircrew didn't say a thing. We deplaned and entered the airport terminal into what was essentially a Mosh-Pit of stranded, angry and confused travelers. Then looking at the monitors seeing all flights were canceled did reality set in to ask what the heck was going on? Airport personnel were less than friendly. No vehicles were allowed in the airport terminal loading or departure zones so no busses, or taxis, and all rental cars were sold out. And I only made it as far as Sea-Tac! Air travel has never been the same since- especially for me. But that tragic event was a wake-up call that should still be ringing in everyone's ear. I know I wont forget.

I won't ever forget that day or even many of the weeks after. Heard about the first plane as I was driving to work. Stopped and got gas, went into the shop to pay and when I started driving again heard about the 2nd plane and realized it was not just a horrible accident. Heard about the crash in PA and the pentagon on my drive in as well. Even though I was clear across the country it was a bit scary. I was working in a building across the street from our airport. We were on alert for quite awhile afterwards because another of the offices in the building was part of the FAA so we were told our building and the airport across the freeway could both be considered targets if there were more attacks. Heard a lot of interesting info from one of the FAA employees who worked in the building.
