Not sure if this is even wroth a try. But interesting all the same.

 
Not sure I would want to put aluminum on burning coals, ever seen when a can gets put into a hot enough fire, but the gas grill no problem. If I had to resort to using a gas grill and wanted to try to get a little smoke I would use this stuff called aluminum foil, make a packet, put desired chips in it and poke holes.

Yup. a bit cheaper too.
 
yeah, I dont see that doing much unless its stilling on the coals...maybe. On gasser grates I dont see it making any smoke.
 
I think it would smoke but at $3.50 a can 🙁. I'll just keep using my foil packs w/ chips on the little Q and the Weber smoker box on the E-210. Definitely a gimmick that won't turn your gas grill into a smoker.
