My caffeine fix this AM led me down a winter savory vs summer savory rabbit hole. Anyone use the stuff? I also found an herb called lovage. Apparently it's is an extremely potent celery like flavor which is interesting. Also interesting that it is considered a commonly used herb for meet in Bavaria. Lovage is called "Maggikraut" in german. That got me REALLY interested to learn more about it. https://germangirlinamerica.com/what-is-maggikraut/

Never delved into the savory family ... yet.
Gone down the rabbit hole with oregano, basil, and mint.
I've heard of lovage, but never looked into it.
I've explored her website before, but didn't find the maggikraut article.

I've never used it. But while in Germany I've had it in stews and salads. I liked the taste of it.

I am a big Summer Savory lover, I have posted many posts with it here.
And even sent some to a couple folks on here. As our summer savory in this part of the country has a distinct smell and flavour.

Now I want a turkey and stuffing sandwich.

That sounds good! Even on a full belly!

Well dang guess I need to get some! Happy I did this thread. I did not save any links but it's pretty wild to see you guys confirm what I saw, used in european stuff, italian, german, and canadian. KFC fanatics that swear it's key spice. Kinda blown away the name of the spice is based on the flavor!

I thinking you should. Been down those too and have a few diffferent varietys of the stuff now. Paid big bucks for calabrian oregano which suppsedly nails the NYC italian thing.

Me too and even know to how to pronounce it for some odd reason. Huge celery people here so sounds like a big win.

Same here.
ME...if you guessed that I use it, well, points for you....
No points for me, ha

Apparently both savory and lovage are in the Frankfurt green sauce. Looks and sounds insanely good but the sauce has other really hard to find ingredients. Grie Soß

Very cool. We need to talk tourtiere.
Don't see Savory around here anymore .
Savory kinda reminds me of mace. My parents have TONS of recipes that call for it.

Yup, remember this well. I haven't tried to make it here in the states. Actually, I forgot about it until now.
