Looks like I need to find a wordsmith forum. I'm a lot worse than I thought.
Well, if I think something is "THE BEST", then it is absolutely "THE BEST" for me Why should that upset you? If I think that blue is "THE BES.T" color, and you do not agree, then that is cool. But why do you want to get upset that I have a different preference than you? Just shake your head and think how dumb I am in your eyes, but then move on. This world has plenty of room for my best AND your best.
Smoke on, and be cool to others.
Okay...
I'm not perfect, and once again made a mistake by starting this thread. Slow learner I guess.
I should have been in bed sleeping as I was too tired to be posting
Lots of people like FOB ribs. The ones that like a little tug shouldn't be "suggesting" that somehow, those folks don't know what they're doing or they're eating mush, etc.
The funny thing is, I've never seen people who enjoy FOB ribs communicate their preference to others in that fashion. I wonder why that is?
How many different ways can a chicken be smoked/cooked? Many. So why is one's preference/style/technique the best, "suggesting" to others that somehow their way is inadequate.
Many folks like smoking low-n-slow, lately it seems like that too is somehow the wrong way of doing things.
I could go on, but at this point I'm done.
I say do as you wish, but play nice with others.
No I'm not with the etiquette :police2: but, I have noticed some of the egos are soaring high.
This post is the BEST! LOL
This is a great discussion, Joe...thanks for starting it!
To borrow Lance's term, I believe that chest thumping, as well as the rude arrogance, and stubborn narrow-mindedness already discussed, are less common here than they are at other forums I frequent. It's certainly one of the things I love about these forums. That's not to say that SMF is totally immune to that attitude and behavior...but it usually seems to be the exception rather than the rule, at least in my experience.
What I see more often here at SMF, and what I always try to do myself, is members being positive, encouraging, and appreciative of fellow members' techniques. There is a general appreciation here that there are many ways to accomplish great BBQ. For the most part, the only time differing methods are suggested is when the OP ASKS for input or advice. Again, this is not ALWAYS true here, but is true more times than not. I certainly hope I've never been so presumptuous as to force my way of doing it on someone else when they didn't ask for advice. What I view as "Best" for me is certainly not the ONLY way, nor necessarily the Best way for anyone else.
I definitely agree with Joe...it can be very tiresome to have someone insist that your way is wrong and their way is right.
Oh, and BTW JJ and Mauser...RED IS ALWAYS THE BEST COLOR!![]()
Red
This post is the BEST! LOL
Right on brother Red. Those that hang around get that this is a wonderful place to be. Many forums claim to be a community, but this is a real community. Ya know I fly to some city every week. Too many nights in the hotel rooms... reading these posts keep me grounded. It's like Mayberry with better food!
Point to you my gravity feed smoker pal!
