    Hey All,

I just bought a Brinkman vertical electric smoker , and my first   whole Chi ken , was FANTASTIC !

My question is this .......Today I was doing some breast and wanted to turn up the heat for the last few mins to crisp the skin. I turned the dial all the way up ....and couldn't get over 200 Degree's.

Now on the dial  it shows setting as high as 300   but ....nope 200 is as high as it went , I did try it long , so maybe I didn't give it enough time ?     What ya think ?
  2. Thermometer calibration needed perhaps.

Possible, but not likely. Although I am sure the temp gauge is wrong too. Mine was off by -65º. [IMG]

Some electrics just don't get real hot. 250º is usually the norm, but other factors can effect your totals. Use a strong gauge electrical cord and keep it as short as possible. Ambient temps and weather conditions can effect it also. If you need higher temps, consider playbox sand instead of water in your water pan. Keep it out of the wind also.
