Congrats on the Carousel !
I learned something from you today....never heard of using the baking powder. You made my day , Thanks for a super post.

HT

Thanks HT! I think I saw that tip/trick in a video on a YouTube binge awhile back. Had great success with it. Highly recommend trying it.

Learned from wife that using bread flour it already has baking powder in it.

Warren

Good call! have y'all done that before? does the flour get cakey at all? I guess a light seasoned dusting would probably work pretty well.

Wow!! Welcome back my friend. Great to see you again and absolutely a GREAT meal. Certainly worthy of the carousel ride. When you return, you do so with a vengeance, that's for sure :emoji_laughing: I gotta agree with Chile though. Simple food done with greatness goes a LONG way...,.and you nailed it. Hopefully this is a sign that work may start allowing you to have a life again. Side note though: I still have 2 huge packs of those monster beef ribs. Interested?

Blown away by this one!!

KISS is a known method for a reason right?! Thank you for the kind words.

Well come on my brother!! I'd love nothing more than to share some of those with you.....with one caveat attached: Kay must bring deviled eggs. I still stand behind my sentiments of several months ago that those are THE BEST deviled eggs I have ever had. I'd give my first born child and a pint of blood for that recipe. Side note though: deviled eggs or not, please give Kay a hug and tell her it's from Tracy and I. We miss you guys.

Big hug from R, T, and the beagle

With a BIG BANG!!! the Misplaced-one finally comes back home. Those wings are fantastic looking!!! Not a better wing maker available on the market then the Vortex, and you sir used it to perfection. Now onto those potatoes. They will most definitely be on the menu in the not so distant future. All my potato favorites mixed into one - especially the bacon bits. I just love those little critters.

Point for sure

Great looking wings!! Add me to the heap of folks that will try the BP trick the next time we do wings. And I agree on the Vortex. I got mine due to the positive remarks on this forum and I am not disappointed. Them taters look wonderful and with nearly a bushel of reds about that size in storage I'm gonna steal that idea as well.

Great write-up!! Like!

Thank you! It tasted just as good too :emoji_laughing:

22" kettles can be had pretty cheap. Just remember to sell it as a package deal with the vortex!

I haven't even been graced with those eggs since our last meetup! :emoji_anguished:
I'm always working on fitting in some time. once the temp gets below 70... it's hunker down season for the wife :emoji_laughing:. She's a true blue Texan. Or burnt orange rather... yuck... haha. I'm still trying to pay attention to how she makes em so I can write down a recipe too. I do know they are very simple and the KISS method applies. I'll get my spy cap on and keep you posted. Make sure and tell T and the beagle hello!

Thanks Chris! I was torn on the Bacon Bits vs regular bacon TBH... but I think they work perfectly with the mini spuds. They just keep that extra crunch factor. I had a vision of how I wanted them to turn out all day and glad they exceeded expectations. I'm already planning on making them again. They were so good and simple. I don't want to deviate much from the basics but little mini spuds with a sliver of brisket or pulled pork may be in the mix...

Thanks! The BP is one of the better tricks I've come across for wings. The other best thing is the vortex. Love making them and they will be cycling back through here again in short order. If you've got the baby reds ready to go for sure give em a shot. Experiment and have fun with them. they are addicting and a new go to side for us now.

Ok that is some funny stuff there! Oh and I tried the package deal already....... the flames were really hot.....hotter than the vortex...LOL! I have patience and persistence.

If me and the boy didn't have one smoker build to finish already as well as making a knife forge, I might have some bargaining chips, so need to clear the table first....I will have one even if I have to make one!
