Ahhhh, I love the smell of smoke in the morning! Especially when I’m on vacation, and can start my day by drinking mimosas instead of having breakfast.

I gave my husband a choice for dinner tonight, ribs or pork butt. He chose a butt, so that’s what’s on the smoker. (I’ll do the ribs on the weekend)

Thanks! Here’s a better shot of where I like to relax while I cook. Our backyard is super tiny, so this is pretty much it!

Good luck with the smoke. Been raining off and on the last 3 days and windy so haven't been able to get things cooking. :emoji_angry:

Beautiful year and sitting area! damn - dont let my wife see that. Enjoy the vaca!

Send some of that rain to me! It's getting dry and crunchy here.

I got a pork shoulder this morning but I plan to grind it. The Lady has been asking for breakfast sausage. Time to bring up the Chop-Rite #10.

Nice I am on vacation next week - heading north to Mont-Tremblant, Canada...not looking forward to the 10 hour drive though.

That's a sweet backyard setup you have. Unfortunately for me, I have to wait a few months for relaxing patio time. Heat index of 100 today. I envy all you Northerners this time of year ( but not in the winter)!

Nice cook area. Already paid my dues, retired. Can enjoy the back yard just about anytime! Like when I was smoking the Pork Char Sui I posted about last week

Have fun at Tremblant!! Make sure you do the gondola ride all the way up to the top, and if you can, do the zip line! So much fun.

And you’ll likely go through Ottawa, so wave to me on your way through.

The pork is finally done and is resting now. Will post pics in a bit.

9 hours on the WSM. No wrap, since I wasn’t in a rush.

I’m going to have a second sammich. brb.

Looking nice. What kind of sauce?

I’m not sure what sauce it was, it was something my husband picked out at the farmers market. It was tasty though!.

Yes, 9 hours, which was longer than I thought it was going to be. Oh well.

I don’t know what it weighed, probably around 6-7 pounds? Cook temp was pretty steady around 235 for a good chunk of time, then it jumped up to 250-260 for a bit. It was a really windy day, so I feel like I fiddled with the dampers more than normal.

Next time try some of the homemade Carolina Sauces. The mustard based sauces are my favorite right now. Just don't tell my family that still live in Memphis!

gotcha thanks! I was on the hunt for a pork butt here in SLC last week and they were all 15-16lbs and I was not ready to sign up for that commitment. I think I will have the butcher cut one in half for me...pretty sure they wont sell just half. I need me some pulled pork!
