Steel barrel ?

Were is a good place to call or look for food grade barrels? Fast food restaurants, grocery stores ect. .

Gas and Oil companies have the heavy duty, locking lids here, so not sure but I would cetainly give them a try..

Find a supplier of drums in your area and ask them. Mine was a pressure tank of a water well.

   Bigq, look into Craigs list and look for barrels(food grade is possible) and you can probably find open tops or lock tops either one.I know a fellow in Toledo that has more food barells than Carter has Peanuts.They are only $10 ea.,then got it sandblasted for $10; the other parts were found and scavenged(well some bought )from junk piles.

   I'm assuming you are going to make a UDS?Have fun doing it and show us Q-view.

whats ur 10-20. i do have a couple extra methanol barrels. they dont have ringed lids but work well.

check ur local circle track. sprint cars run methanol and should have a barrel or 2 layin around.

Car washes and bakery's.... Also check with service stations that do oil changes... county and state road departments also have empty paint drums from painting highway stripes that can be burned out.

I got mine at a metal recycling shop, they had a shit-ton of food grade drums.

 I guess it all depends if you live in the CITY or in the STICKS!

By using a drum that held fuel in it, would that taint the flavor of the meat or will all or most of it get burned while burning it out?  What about a drum that held regular race fuel, like leaded Torco, or unleaded race fuel?  Would methanol still be a better find, if someone chose to use an old fuel drum?

I'm no expert but I believe a hot enough and long enough burn out would get rid of all nasty's.
