Last year at the UK SMF Smokers weekend,
steve johnson
brought along this small clay cooking stove, similar to this.
And I was intrigued. Then this week on TV, a UK chef was cooking kabobs in Greece with a similar type unit.
There is a European manufacturer making a Stailess Steel version.
But didn't want to pay the £80.00 for one, so looking in the workshop, came across some of my empty refrigerant cylinders.
Removed valve, marked round cylinder and cut with a grinder.
Cut the top off along the line off the carry handle, Spot welded a base on to it, and welded a plate onto the back.
Drilled 8 10mm holes in the base to give air flow, cut a square of stainless steel mesh to cover bottom to allow ash to fall through.
Cut some of the same mesh, welded a handle on it to make a cooking rack.
Went for the first cook with some Sirloin.
