Hey all,
Wanted to share a little project I put together. I got a free offset from a buddy, and since I had a better one already (thicker steel, newer, etc.), I decided to turn this one into a grill. Because of the opening, I wasn't able to the food area in one piece, so I took off the firebox, and cut the back out so it was parallel to the front opening (leaving some space on the sides to stability. The bottom was pretty rusted, so I used the back piece I cut out and welded it to the bottom of the "barrel" for extra support. I cut a slot to drop the rotisserie rod in, and drill/cut out a hold for the motor (pictured below).
I got an Amazon universal rotisserie kit (openfire, or something like that) and it fits pretty darn well along the whole barrel.
I have a smaller rotisseries made of rebar, about 24 inches wide, but this one worked great for a lamb leg I did a few weeks back.
I'll post the food pics in another thread later. I also want to replace the wood in the shelf too at some point. Maybe with some 1/4 or 2x4 cedar
Wanted to share.
