Something new? Scotch Fatty with pics

Has anyone ever tried scotch eggs? Hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage? It's what the Scottish soldiers used to carry in their sidebags during war, for food.

I wanted to try a variation of that, on my smoker, with the use of a Jimmy Dean chub.

Pouring some yellow mustard on these bad boys will send you into fatty heaven. Here's a couple of pics.




This one has a plate with some of my garden veggies dressed with it.

Where the eggs completely hard boiled or soft boiled when you stuffed the Fatty with them. They look great and I'm already thinking of using pickled eggs

Holly Crymany! Great idea!!! I'm think'n scrambled eggs, soft, hard..........any type of egg in there now!

You gotta tell us how you did it! SMF rules state that in your contract, did you read it?

My wife and kids would absoultly love this! THis opens so many doors!

Bisquites, eggs, gravy(somehow), potatoes, hashbrowns, onions, ...........the list could go on forever!

Wife & I need/want to know how to do this so we can give them as gifts to people who bought our kids' 4-H animals.

It has us very interested in the many ways it can be done...........while being lazy and not doing the trial and error way ourselves.

Big Al, this is a very easy recipe.
I rolled out the chubs to accomodate about 3 eggs.
3 hard boiled eggs per chub, and cut the ends off of the eggs, so they would sit against each other better then the rounded edges would.

I used a very simple rub of garlic salt, onion powder and pepper.

Just like it says on this forum:
2 hours of smoking. Flipping after the first hour. Take em off after 160 internal temp.

Serve with yellow mustard, and you're good to go.

So you just had normal hard boiled eggs? Great! We are gonna try that and also do one w/scrambled eggs w/bacon and cheese.............and probably some mushrooms.

Saw this thread referenced elsewhere on SMF... had to look this up.

I LOVE Scotch Eggs, they're always a *must-have* for lunch at any Highland Games... had made Scotch Eggs before and deep fried them, but this is much better...

Zilla, You have just witnessed one of the great things about SMF- YOU came up with a simple idea-a concept of your own thinking, you acted on it and posted the results. You have now given others something new to pursue and try out variations of their own (like using pickled eggs).
