So, due to circumstances, I can't do any smoking for the next 2 weekends.

I am bummed to say the least. I thought maybe I could get in a couple racks of ribs yesterday but no dice.

My beautiful smoker sitting there beckoning me to fire her up and fill her with offerings of deliciousness and all I can do is pine away whilst perfectly good meat sits in the deep freeze.

There must be a support group some where....... :emoji_disappointed::emoji_laughing:

Between the weather and work. I go thru dry spells like yours. It just means you'll appreciate the fruits of your labor even more when you get the smoker fired up.

So true... I am already planning on making ribs, Chinese BBQ pork and some chickens when I get back to it...

I hear ya man the dry spells suck. I've been known to get in a quick smoke or two here through the week. Spatched chickens at 300 only take a couple hours. ABT's are fairly quick too. Reversed seared steaks or eye of round roasts for sandwiches come to mind. Give you enough time to get a little smoke in your beard and drink some cold beers!

I'm another non smoker. After smoking something almost every weekend at camp, I had to shut down due to power problems at the campgrounds. About three weeks ago, we started getting wide voltage swings. Friday it dropped from 106 to 61 to 98 volts in maybe 30 seconds. It rarely gets above 115 volts. No AC running at the time. Several other campers in our area are having problems too. I'm thinking there is a loose/bad neutral leg somewhere but we can't get the owner to move on it. Hopefully soon.

Yeah I'm with ya. I'm booked up solid for the next 3 weekends. Maybe that 3rd weekend I can smoke something but not betting on it.
I have a 22 pound turkey in the freezer that needs a smoking but hell at this point I may as well just wait until thanksgiving and christmas and save myself a few bucks hahahaa.

I'm going to try and get on it sooner rather than later though. It takes 5-6 days to defrost and then 3 days to cure and brine should be good so I have to plan like 7-9 days in advance to cook that bad boy.
I would also like to make some jerky from ground venison but have not been able to get any time for that all year long :(

Just when I though I was going to have a respite, I find out that I have been invited to a family cookout weekend after next so that will be 5 weekends in a row with nary a coal burned in my smoker...

Summer is a real bottomer... :emoji_wink::emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing:
