Somewhere on the forum, someone suggested mixing chips in with the pellets when using a tube. I wish I could thank him because it works great! I have thought that the smoke from the tube tasted a bit light with just pellets.

I‘m smoking a pork butt right now with a mix of apple pellets and chips in the tube. I am using my home-made smoke generator contraption and this is the best looking smoke yet! I can smell the difference.

Thanks whoever you are!!

I can’t wait to try the pork butt and CSR burnt ends that are in the cabinet right now. I’ve got to get some hickory chips for the tri-tip and ribeyes that will be going in Thursday.

OldSmoke OldSmoke Thanks for posting this information. I'm using my AMPS Maze for the first time this week in my MB40 to slow smoke some 10 Spice Kielbasa and I wanted to use some of my chips with the pellets I received for extra flavor. I'll work on getting some "in smoke" photos and the outcome for comments.🍻

Not sure who it was , but I posted about doing it awhile ago . It does make a big difference .

It wasn't me as I always suggest shag bark hickory bark in it with pellets lol

Before the Amazen Smoker came out some people with electric smokers used to put a briquette of lit charcoal in the chip tray with the chips to produce a smoke ring. Funny it adds nothing to the meat as far as flavor or anything but we sure go through strange things to make sure we have one when we're done with smoking whatever

I never worry about a smoke ring . I was mixing chips with pellets for flavor and color on hams .
I burn straight wood chunks in my mes 30 .
