Hello all,
New member to the site. Been shopping around for a new smoker. I was using the chargriller duo 5050 for the past 8 years or so. I now have two separate grills. A new 6 burner propane and now a Ok Joe Highland. I settled on that smoker after multiple forums reads. My local Walmart had one on clearance for $150 which seemed like a pretty fair price. I had it modified a bit per posts and recommendations from this site. Instead of RTV around the sfb or sfb seals I had one of my maintenance guys weld the seams from the inside. I think he did a fantastic job. He also welded in a pair of rails for the tuning plates and made the baffle/deflector. My local manufacturing business close by let me rummage through their scrap steel bin so all the plates/rails were at no cost. I did purchase the 3" 90 degree bend vent for the stack. I also had a free gift card from amazon so all the accessories cost nothing out of my pocket. All in all I have the temps close to even across the grate so I'm happy with that. So for a cost of 153 bucks out of pocket here is the new smoker and what I have smoked so far.
