I want to partisapate in a local competition here in jersey. But I have contacted the KCBS and the New Jersey smoking chapter but I have not recieved any responses .. Help!!!

There are a TON of competitions that are not part of the KCBS. The Chef instructors from the school I taught in were Judges every year at the annual York County PA Rib Cookoff. 50 Teams from all over the country, just Ribs, included judging, trophies and the teams sold samples to the attending public. This went on for years then in 2009 the KCBS got involved and it was a sanctioned event. I don't know if it is still going on.

KCBS State Championship in North Wildwood NJ July 8th & 9th 2016 is the 1st one listed for NJ. By Jan / Feb next year there will be more contests listed on the KCBS site, for now there are just a handful. Good luck
