Smoked Roast Beef Lunch Meat Sammies (On Rye Bread)

Now I’m gonna show you another one of the things I have to do, because of Mrs Bear’s Likes & Dislikes.
Some of you already know that when I want to eat Fish or Seafood, I usually wait until she’s not home.
If I want my Chili or anything else a little Spicy, I have to wait until I put mine on my plate, and then add it. "Don't get any of that Hot stuff on mine!!!!"

Well Here’s another one:
I love to eat Rye Bread now & then, but Mrs Bear doesn’t like it, so since I don’t like to throw food away, when I get a loaf of Rye Bread, I have to consume it all by myself, pretty fast, so it doesn’t get stale on me!!! (I hate stale Rye Bread)
My favorite Sammies, using Rye Bread, are “Ham & Swiss on Rye with Horseradish & Mustard” , and “Roast Beef & American Cheese on Rye with Horseradish Sauce”.

So this time I got a loaf of Rye Bread that had 16 big slices in it, so that adds up to 8 nice big Sammies.
Since I had a bunch of Smoked Roast Beef I sliced up not too many weeks ago, I got a few packs out of the Deep Freeze.
Then I made a Batch of Horseradish Sauce to prepare for a run of a few days of RB & Ch on Rye with HR Sauce.

I won’t show you all of the 8 Sammies I had, but I’ll show you a few, just to prove I actually ate that many to use up that loaf of Rye Bread before it Dries Out. It took me 5 days to consume 8 Sammies!!

BTW:—My Horseradish Sauce:
1/2 Cup of Sour Cream
3/4 Cup of prepared Horseradish (Kelchner’s)
1/2 Cup of Mayo
2 TBS of Lemon Juice
1 TBS of Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp of Kosher Salt
1/4 tsp of CBP
Place all ingredients in a Medium Mixing Bowl, and whisk until smooth & creamy.
Put in Fridge for at least 4 hours to overnight to allow flavors to meld.
May be stored in Fridge in airtight container for 2 to 3 weeks.

Thanks for looking,

Bear

looks good bear, I'd have put the pickles on the sammie, but that's just me. It must be a woman thing. I like rye bread, but not so much the wife.

Point for sure.

Great lookin sandwich . I like rye also , and no one else here does . So if it gets stale on me , I cube it up and dry it in the oven . Makes a great snack .

Thank You Warren!!
I know what you mean, but I only like Provolone on Sammies that get heated (melted), like Cheesesteaks.
On cold lunchmeat Sammies I'll always go with American, except for cold Ham, which gets Swiss.
And even then I often use American, if I don't plan ahead, because we only stock American Cheese at the Den.
And Thanks for the Like.

Rye bread toast dunked in black coffee is one of life's true pleasures.

Sure sounds like an Anti-Rye Bread Woman's thing.
Oh well, after 50 years, not much I can do about it.

Thank You Braz!!
Hmmm, I drank Black Coffee all my life, from age 15, until my open heart surgery (Nov 8, 2012).
Then my taste buds got screwed up, and everything tasted terrible (even Prime Rib!!).
Then about 6 months later everything came back, except Coffee.
Tried it 3 times in the last 6 years---still tastes Bad!!

Sorry to hear that Bear. I too have been drinking coffee since teenage. Can't imagine life without it. In basic we weren't allowed post privileges till week four. Most guys rushed to the PX for a beer. I got a coffee to linger over. Coffee was available in the mess hall but it was scalding hot and were only given a few minutes to eat and get out. No time to really enjoy the coffee.
As I am fond of saying, "getting old is not for the faint of heart."

Looking good John. Some how, some way our wives must be related!! Like

Thank You Gator!!
This one is Half PA German & Half Lithuanian, but she's a good Kid!!
That's with me being 50% PA Dutch & 50% PA German.
And Thanks for the Like.

Yummy Bear. We all love rye bread here. I have been out of roast beef for a long time. I better make some soon.

Looks good, lucky for you, you never catch her in the rye. my wife eats ours

Well you just can't beat roast beef on rye!
And all of your sandwiches look great!
I'm a horseradish guy myself, so I'm going to try your sauce recipe!
Thanks for posting it John!

Ah Man!!
You just brought back some memories!!
When I was in basic, I kept sneaking to the PX for Cheeseburgers, because I was starving!!
Breakfast was 1 spoon of scrambled eggs, 1 strip of Bacon, and 1 slice of toast!!
Then "Eat and Get-Out!!"
How can a 6' 3" country boy of 19 years survive on that !!!!

Bear

Well I knew I had a special lady and she does love rye bread.

Warren

You got a keeper there, Warren!!
I'm wondering---Does the "Women's Anti-Rye-Bread Union" know about her love of Rye Bread???
