We've got some deck work underway, so I had to move our assortment of planter boxes and pots onto the driveway. We have a LOT of resident deer in the neighborhood--that's why we have to keep everything on the deck--so I figured some of the herbs would get devoured. I figured the peppers would be safe.

First morning after the move, my habanero plant had been eaten down to the nub, and even the two or three habaneros that were nearly ready to pick had been eaten. Nothing else was touched.

I don't think that particular doe will be back.

Yeah, that sucks.
I have a 6' electric fence around my garden in MN due to the voracious appetite the deer have for my pepper, tomato, and potato plants. Go figure why they are attracted to toxic plants. Same with the rabbits that clipped off the onion shoots and spit them out and moved to the next bulb.
Herbs are usually a deterrent.

I planted our garden next to the chicken coop. Surprisingly chickens are a good deterrent to deer.

That might be a bit extreme. . .😅 but very effective. Looks really nice also !

They ate my ghost peppers and came back for more. I had to move everything into the fenced pool area after that.
